''Drift, Mario, Drift...!'' by NotoAyako ''Drift, Mario, Drift...!'' by NotoAyako
Got guts to drift a 920 rwhp monster Monaro? :iconiseeplz:

Mario has it, and he accepted my challenge to drift my father's Monaro, which is powered by a twin turbocharged LS1 (5.7L) fueled by RON 105+ racing fuel which resulting 920 hp on the rear wheels (measured with Dyno Dynamics chassis dynamometer). :icononioncleanplz:

He wears special helmet when drifting the Monaro. It's basically an AGV T2 but with custom livery, Kagamine Rin's livery, to be more exact. The helmet can be seen here. I think the helmet still needs more improvement, that's why I expect critics and suggestion on the helmet. :iconarigatouplz:

Well... Unlike my SE artworks, this VZ Monaro artwork isn't based on photographs of the real car. It's based on my memories of the Monaro, how it looks, how it runs, etc. The actual car itself is already sold by now. The only thing that I remember the most is the front bumper which looks kinda Fast and Furious-y in my opinion. :icononionxdplz:

Wow... Gue gak tahu kalau kamu bisa bikin mobilnya hampir mirip dengan yang aslinya...

Btw, kenapa kamu buat nopol mobilnya nopol Indonesia?
Bukannya Holden Monaro (aka Pontiac GTO, Vauxhall Monaro VXR, dan Chevrolet Lumina SS) gak dijual di Indonesia???

Hmm... Kenapa mobilnya pake plat nomor Indonesia...?

No, this car isn't sold in Japan, although it's possible to do so. It's probably sold in Middle East, though, but I'm not really sure about it. Maybe it's sold there as Pontiac GTO. :icondontunderstandplz:

...and yes, everyone knows that this car is also sold in UK as Vauxhall Monaro. In fact, it's awarded as one of the best muscle cars there, if I'm not mistaken. :iconheehee-plz:

Aya, this Monaro must haul ass with all those 920 hp driving the rear wheels. when i was in high school i wanted a Pontiac GTO myself (the Americanized version) especially the one with the LS2 v8.

i think i like Australian cars more than Americans...

Oh, I've just known that there is a verson of GTO with LS2 engine. I think in Australia they don't have it because LS2's are finally fitted under the bonnet of 2007 - 2009 model of VE Commodore and Maloo. They have LS3 after 2010, if I'm not mistaken. :iconmonkeythinkplz:

Are you sure you like Australians more than Americans? We drive only RHD cars and that means you can't drive them in your country.:iconparanoidmonkeyplz:

well, they're more unique than the American counterparts and most of their lineup is practically front wheel drive sedans, especially their full size sedans nowadays, and no Utility trucks like the Holden Maloo ute or the Ford Falcon FPV Pursuit.

Indeed... some of Australian cars can only be found in Australia, especially those V8-powered Utes. You can't find them anywhere else in the world, even American V8 Utes are actually Australian (like like Pontiac G8 Ute). :icondragonnod2:

I've just seen more photographs of the latest HSV Maloo R8 and seems like I crave for it even more now. :icondragonwant:

>Pontiac G8 Ute

they didn't even sell those in the US, GM at the last minute thought the wagon and ute were too expensive to import and convert to RHD so they axed them both.

its that GM Curse of theirs, when they're doing good cars, somewhere on the model's timeline, they fuck up and kill them. it happened to the Corvair and the Fiero alongside the Solstice and the G8/GTO Monaro duo.

although the latter two succumbed to poor sales.

Eh, seriously...? I thought they really sold them in US, I didn't know that they aborted that plan until the last minute... :iconehhhhplz:

Well...? aren't most big cars manufacturers like that? They end the production of good cars. Just like Supra being discontinued by Toyota and NSX being discontinued by Honda. Feel sorry for those two, btw, because they haven't had any successor in the market nowadays.

Well... I've heard quite a lot about the next gen NSX, though, which is supposed to be GT-R killer, but it's not even out in the market, yet so I think we can't really expect to see a real bettle between the new NSX nd GT-R soon.:iconshuturmonkeymouthplz:

Mas... Mas...

That's what he said when I asked him about his reason to retain the stock look, to focus only on performance, not the appearance. And it's true, it makes people scratching their heads, to think a Monaro with stock look bursting about 900 rwhp. :icondragonxdplz:

Hm... I'm not sure if he has nice taste in wheels, I think he just wanted the lightest wheels while HRE is known for their forged wheels lineups. Maybe if he still has this Monaro, he'd change the wheels to Dymag carbon fiber wheels or Volk CE28 carbon fiber.:icondragonspif:

well i like the wheels on it. they aren't necessarily the ones i would pick, but i think they look pretty good on it and i respect the choice :) just as long as they are strong, light, and look good (that's not too much to ask is it? xD haha). so they can withstand severe abuse, and look good doing it lol

Aww... Don't worry, you'll gain the skill by learning and practicing little by little. Practice makes perfect, right? :iconthatsrightplz:

And anyway, to be honest, when we still got this car in out garage, I wasn't fully capable to handle this car. I spun out everytime I tried to make it drift. Now I think of it, it just makes sense that normal drivers (as opposed to race drivers) wouldn't be able to handle this car properly. That's the reason of my mother complaints, which made this Monaro sold to a friend of my father in the end. :iconsweatdropplz:

Thanks a lot for your positive commentary, Nick. You really make my day... :iconshining-eyesplz:

Btw, what's exactly that you want to prectice, drifting or creating car artworks? If it's drifting that you want to practice, have you got the car yet?:iconheehee-plz:

Well... about the Monaro, it's not that hard to drift, it's the contrary, it drifts too much. What I'm talking about here he, it's hard to do a long drift with this car, as it tends to sup out a lot with me behind the wheel.:iconsweatdropplz:

I think my dad was being too selfish here, by being the only one to be able to fully control this Monaro and doing long drifts with it. :iconannoyeddotdotdotplz:

Hm... well then please give it a good thought, I'm ready to help you as long as it's within my capabilities. :iconyoyociciplz:

Well... About that VZ Monaro, it's pretty much hard to do long drifts with, but it's because it has too much power for me to control while it's basically tuned by my father for drifting purpose. 920rwhp is too much for me to handle even now after many hours of drift practice with my SE3P. :iconigiveupplz:

That's exactly as you say, long drifts with such cars are hard to do as they tend to spun out a lot and you're right again, for now I can handle only low powered cars. My SE3P has only about 357 rwhp at max, pretty low compared to 920 rwhp on the Monaro, right? :iconmonkeythumbplz:

Oh you're right, it looks really epic, and somehow I can understand why you think this Monaro resembles that GTO, because their center air dams look almost exactly the same.:iconicantbelieveitplz:

However, they're not exactly the same. This Monaro's front bumper has 3 air dams while the GTO only has 1 big air dam plus canards, this Monaro doesn't have canards at all.:iconilikeitplz:

Talking about Pontiac, well... Sure they have tragic ending, to be totally discontinued at the beginning of 2011. :iconidislikeitplz:
