DX Drift by NotoAyako DX Drift by NotoAyako
A request by :iconshabura:

Quite a while ago, he requested me a drawing of the 4th generation of Toyota Corolla, also called Toyota Corolla DX here. First Launched at 1983, this car has it's own fanatic who proudly drive them up to this moment.

According to the recent development, since drifting has become a phenomenon in the automotive world, many people start looking for this car and build them for drifting competitions. Most of them only take the advantage of it's FR layout since they mostly swapped the engine, transmission and sometimes slammed a turbo kit onto their Corollas. :iconahemplz:

As for this car, it's planned to have a 'frankenstein' engine, 4A-GE blacktop head paired with 7A-FE block. Now the engine has the displacement of 1.8L and 120 hp output (naturally aspirated), slam a turbo on it and it can easily reach 200 hp. :iconmonkeythumbplz:

Actually, I'm a little bit hesitate to upload this artwork here, since I only have the minimum contribution in this one. My little brother did most of the job, all I did is working on the background and -what else?- disturbing him. That's why I didn't put my signature on this one.

I'm gonna work on some modification on this car. Constructive suggestions are always welcome... :iconmonkeyshyplz:

I really love the classic JDM Fender mirrors on Toyota Corolla Sedan (Saloon), it's original and finest. :D

Yeah, I remember a story from my father about his old DX which has pretty much the same modifications. Honestly I don't really understand about classic cars, though. :iconteeheeneplz:

:iconilikeitplz:

Kalau saya pribadi sih engga terlalu suka DX, maklum emang engga terlalu paham soal mobil klasik. Ini cuma semacam nostalgia aja, bokap nyetirnya Corolla DX waktu bujangan. :iconiloveitmoreplz:

Oh... Kalau sekarang ini sih sukanya ya mobil2 JDM keluaran baru, ya paling tua 20 tahun ke belakang lah... :iconeheplz: Soalnya parts-nya masih gampang dicari.

:iconblush-plz:

Wah... Makasih ya mbak Aya....

Coba dikasih tambahan ducktail di bagasi sama fog lamp warna kuning seperti AE86-nya takumi :D

Tapi begini aja udah bagus banget, jadi inget DX teman yang modifikasinya persis begini, cuma dia bukan buat balap...
Peleknya... RS Watanabe asli kah? Bikin tambah mantap aja KE70 ini ^^

Setuju sama mbak, modelnya abadi ngga hilang dimakan jaman, apalagi dia generasi terakhir Corolla yang FR di sini. Dikasih mesin 2TG juga mantap nih... :D

Sekali lagi makasih ya mbak, salam juga buat adiknya, keren banget ini.... ^^

Sama2 Mas Fadhli... :icongrin--plz:

:icongreatjobplz:

Sip, nanti saya sampein salamnya buat adik saya, dia pasti seneng kalau artworknya banyak yg suka... :iconcblushplz:

nicely done Aya (and of course credit to your brother where it is due too lol).
i like that you've gone with the bonnet mirrors and flat front end lol. loving the green too :D
there is actually a powder blue one of these (even the wheels and guards are the same lol) in the drift scene where i am in Australia, although it is a bit beaten up... they look awesome though!

all you've got to do is gut the interior and you've got a featherweight drift car :D

Indeed... this is the lightest drift car you can easily get around here, since getting an AE86 would need lots of effort.

I thought of adding a rollcage onto this car at first, but I think it would be rude to modify someone's artwork and getting the praise because of it so I just leave it as it is.

But in the end I did that, too. Oh well... :iconshrugplz:

You can take a look at my version here.

Thanks for your positive commentary, Nathan. My lil' bro must be happy to know that everyone loves his artwork. :iconblush--plz:

i like both versions...
yours has that complete essence of drift about it, and i can picture it turning up at the track on the back of a trailer.
your brothers has the streetability to it, and i really dig the whole "clean, street driven drift car" thing ^_^

i want my current car to be my trailer monster, and my s14 to be my clean drift car. i can't decide what will be my main weapon of choice though, so many options!! lol.

Well... I'm really glad that you like my version, too... I thought I was just ruining it by painting the hood black and adding some unadjusted stickers. :iconeheheplz:

If you want to see some drifitng videos of that generation of Corolla, you'd better type the keywords of 'Corolla DX' or 'Corolla KE70'. Most videos with the word 'DX' come from SE Asia (while it's basically known as KE70 everywhere), if I'm not mistaken.

Make that happen, Nathan. I'm really looking forward to your modifications of that Onevia. Remember, you can always as a turbo on that car and yes, there are many options, but we're limited by a thing named 'cost' or 'funds' or whatever you call it. :iconembarressedplz:

I think I'll modify a unique car again later. Just wait for it.

of course i do, you weren't ruining it at all! you gave it a new vibe i think!
and don't worry, i know lots of KE70's in Brisbane, and i've seen majority of them drifting. i've seen one that has an SR20DET in it that is absolutely insane! it has about 400bhp and since it's a KE, it weighs next to nothing, so it goes super fast and always has smoke billowing off the back tyres lol, it's amazing xD

and i will indeed make it happen! i already have plans for the Onevia, i just have to decide which one to pursue xD lol. i am going to be sticking to different looking 15" rims though, with smaller tyres, just because i like it and it's a bit different. and since i already have a set of 15"s, i don't want to waste them now :P lol.

yeah funds are indeed a big part of it, but, if this mine ends up operational, well... who knows what kind of craziness might happen xD even if i am the poorest guy alive (which i must be damn close to right now!!) i will always find a way to do things to my car/s lol. i am a car fanatic, it's what we do xD lol.

*waiting for you to modify a unique car* :P speaking of, you should upload a pic of your RX8! :D i am interested...

Well... to be honest, I've been working on artworks based on the photographs of my RX-8 but somehow I'm so lazy to finish it, maybe since I got the car already so I unconsciously think that I don't need it in artwork anymore... :iconlazyonion:

But if you want to see it, then I guess I'll have to do my best to finish it... :icondeterminedplz:

Haha... yeah, Nathan.. that's the spirit... Man, you're a bigger car enthusiast than I am. I'm not sure if I have such a motivation to work on my car while my wallet is empty... :icondignitylaughplz:

lol, that makes sense to me xD i was a bit like that when i finally got my car. i'd been looking at all sorts of photos with cosmetic mods, and trying to piece together the things i liked in my mind so that i could aim for it, but once i got it i was just so happy that i stopped bothering xD lol

i'd very much like to see it ^_^ but there is no pressure to finish it if you don't want to :) but best of luck if you do try and finish it :D

well, i did grow up around cars, and i've been involved with them since before i can remember xD lol. i'll always be working on my car, i've already done stuff to it with an empty wallet haha, and i'll continue to do so if i need to :P even if it's only maintenance ^_^ that's the beauty of old cars, the parts aren't too expensive xD lol

I'm trying my best here, but got discouraged sometimes by the blurry photographs that I took. I should've asked my husband to take the photographs since he at least doesn't have a pair of shaky hands when holding a camera like I do. But oh well... I think I'l just tweak these photographs in photoshop a little bit so I can see them clearer. :iconshrugplz:

Old cars? well, Nathan.. your S13 isn't so old. In my mind an old car is more like retro or classic cars, cars that aged more than 30 years old. This kind of cars actually needs extra care, especially since their parts are hard to get. :icondoh-plz:

now THIS i like to see,i'd say you should put pocket flares and paint the hood black(no carbon fiber, the car's light enough as it is) these were insanely popular in Puerto Rico as well, still are,not to mention common on the roads.

Oh, that means we have pretty much the same situation here. After a decade, this car gets it's popularity back, or should I say this time it becomes more popular since the drifting virus started to spread. :iconshaplz:

Now we can easily find people drive this car almost everywhere, and most of them are modified, from a simple modification to competition purpose (especially drifting).

Thanks a lot for the suggestion. Instead of my lil' bro, I'll try to tweak this car's appearance a little bit more. :icongrin--plz:
